Thousands Pack Downtown for July 4th Parade
A full day of festivities occurred in downtown Eagle River, with the annual parade and Party in the Street events. Businesses and organizations handed out candy and frozen pops from decorated floats while people were stacked four-plus deep on sidewalks and spilled onto the streets to glimpse the parade. Water wars broke out all down Wall Street as people both in the parade and on the streets came prepared with water guns. The day's temperatures reached the mid-80s, so floats spraying water and providing frozen treats were welcomed by the parade-goers. As part of the event, booths sold beer and seltzer beverages, fresh roasted corn and other foods, and Party in the Street apparel.
