St. Germain to Ignite July 4th Celebrations This Sunday

The North's Fourth of July festivities start with a bang this Sunday, as St. Germain kicks it off with its annual Independence Day celebration. Always held the Sunday before July 4, St. Germain begins it all with a full day packed with family fun activities for people of all ages to celebrate the holiday.

Early risers are encouraged to sign up for the 19th annual St. Germain Freedom 5K and 1K, sponsored by St. Germain Non-Motorized Trails. For $35, racers can take part in the 5K that begins at 8:30 a.m. at the St. Germain Community Park. The 1K race beings at 9:30 a.m. at a cost of $15 per runner. Registration and race packet pick-up will be open Friday, June 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. at St. Germain Community Park, as well as the morning of the race from 7:15 to 8 a.m.

Proceeds from this event will be used for the development and maintenance of St. Germain’s non-motorized recreational trails. For more information or to sign up, visit freedom5k.org or call 715-892-1009.

Starting at 9 a.m. until the parade at 3 p.m. the St. Germain Chamber Craft Show will be held on the chamber grounds. In addition to the sale, demonstrations will begin at 10 a.m. and run throughout the day alongside a bounce house for the kids.

At 3 p.m., the parade will highlight local businesses and groups as it runs down Highway 70. Also during this time will be an Aspirus helicopter fly-over. Juggler Dan Kirk, Smokey Bear, and Grampa's Petting Zoo are all on deck to provide entertainment for the kids before and after the parade.

St. Germain Lions Club will provide food from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and live music will be performed by The Marvins from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Brian McLaughlin will take the stage from 5 to 8 p.m., followed by entertainment by DJ Justin Pitlik as spectators gather to view the fireworks that begin at dusk.
