Spots Still Open for FORK's River Paddle Fundraiser

Feed Our Rural Kids (FORK) has partnered with Wildwood Outdoor Adventures and Campground to host the inaugural Fork on the River Charity Paddle this June, and there are still openings available for those who would like to not only have fun with family and friends, but also help support local children experiencing food insecurity.

The paddling event will be held Saturday, June 7, followed by an afterparty hosted at Wildwood, located on Highway 17 in Eagle River. Cost is $45 for people bringing their own boat, but Wildwood will also have rentals available for an extra charge.

According to the itinerary, the event begins at 9:30 a.m. with launch times occurring every 30 minutes.

All kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and canoes need to be dropped at the Highway G Boat Launch the morning of June 7 at least one hour prior to the individual's scheduled launch time. Staging areas will be set up and marked with launch times in order to provide a smooth experience for participants.

Organizers ask that paddlers please stage their vessels in the correct staging area marked with their launch time. Those who are leaving their vest, paddle or accessories at the launch site should make sure to place items inside their vessel.

Vehicle parking will be available at Wildwood Outdoor Adventures & Campground, 5230 Livin’ The Dream Way. Shuttle service will be provided from Wildwood’s main headquarters to the Highway G Boat Launch every 30 minutes starting at 9 a.m. The last shuttle will depart at noon.

The paddling excursion should take approximately two hours. Paddlers should bring along snacks and beverages for the excursion, and dress appropriately for the day's weather. Organizers recommend bringing an extra change of clothes as well as a dry bag with a charged phone.

Following the paddle, musical entertainment by Bret and Frisk will begin at Wildwood at noon, along with food and beverages for sale.
