Pines Names Josh Tilley as New Assistant Principal
Josh Tilley has been named as the new assistant principal of Northland Pines Middle and High School after the Board of Education's approval during its regular board meeting June 30. The move comes after current Assistant Principal Ryan Tienhaara announced his resignation to take a role as a school counselor in Rhinelander.
Tilley brings with him an impressive resume, having served 22 years at Northland Pines School District in a number of different roles including assistant activities director, teacher, and now assistant principal. He has a combined 27 years as an educator in Wisconsin.
He originally joined the Pines family in 2001 as a math teacher. Since then he has demonstrated proven leadership skills in all of his educational roles.
Tilley holds a Masters of Arts in Education, as well as certifications as a Math Specialist, Alternative Education Specialist, and Principal. He has a passion and enthusiasm for helping others and a wide variety of teaching experience.
Tilley is excited to take on the role of assistant principal, using his extensive training in the field to provide students with a quality learning experience.
"I will give 100% to supporting students' learning, as well as supporting teachers through collaboration," he said. "I am looking forward to building relationships with the current families of the middle and high school and continuing the positive rapport with my colleagues."
As a lifelong learner, Tilley also noted his strong work ethic, motivation and passion as qualifications that will help him succeed in the new role which will begin for the 2025-26 school year.
"Dr. Marien and I know that Josh has demonstrated the skills, passion and leadership skills; he is the clear best choice for assistant principal," said District Administrator Scott Foster. "Josh will be joining (principal) Dr. Daniel Marien to continue their work together this summer. We are looking forward to this strong team to not only support students, families and staff, but to help the continuous improvement that has been a constant over the years."
The middle and high school building opened in 2006 and currently serves 635 students in grades 7-12.
