Pines District Administrator Announces 2026 Retirement

The Northland Pines Board of Education accepted the retirement resignation of Scott Foster, district administrator, which will go into effect following the 2025-26 school year.

Effective June 30, 2026, Foster will retire after 26 years with the district, eight of which he will have served as district administrator. Other roles included being a Tech Ed teacher for six years, followed by 12 years of various administrative positions, including principal at multiple schools within the district, director of technology, and as curriculum director.

Foster noted in his letter of resignation that he plans to spend his final year continuing to make improvements for the staff and students within the district.

"I will not be wishing my time away over the next 14 months or so, quite frankly just the opposite. I will be focused on what we can get done in that time," he said in his letter. "I want to leave with the same mindset since the day I started: 'How can we get a little better today than we were the day before'?"

In a press release regarding the resignation, the board thanked Foster for "dedicating himself to continuously improving Northland Pines School District for students and staff over his career at Pines."

"His time, efforts, work and passion for education has been a catalyst that has shaped Northland Pines into 'schools of choice' for many students and staff. The board is looking forward to their ongoing work with DA Foster over the next 14 months as he finishes his career strong at Northland Pines," the letter states.

The board also noted it will begin reviewing replacement options moving forward, and also thanked Foster for giving an "adequate amount of time to conduct a thorough and thoughtful process."

The first step in the process to determine a replacement will begin during open session at the next Board of Education meeting set for Monday, May 19, at 6 p.m. in the Large Group Instruction Room of the middle and high school.
