'No Kings' Protests Come to Northwoods
Protesters in Eagle River, Minocqua, Rhinelander, Park Falls, Ironwood and other northern locations joined in the rallies planned across the US on Saturday. The crowd in Eagle River was met with some opposition but also honks and beeps of support as they held signs decrying Trump's stance on immigration, funding and employee cuts, along with other topics. Speakers shared their ideas — some dressed in costume as George Washington and other historical figures — while volunteers served cake. The more than 2,000 protests planned nationally were organized in response to President Trump's military parade in Washington, D.C., celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Army that coincided with the president's 79th birthday.
