Eagle River Union Airport will host its annual fly-in and pancake breakfast this Saturday, June 14, from 8 a.m. to noon. The event is held rain or shine every year on the Saturday before Father's Day.

The Eagle River Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol will serve up pancakes starting at 8 a.m. For a suggested donation of $8 for adults or $5 for youths age 12 and younger, guests can have their fill of all-you-care-to-eat pancakes and sausage. The breakfast usually draws about 150 patrons, and airport Manager Rob Hom expects this year's event to follow suit.

Once your belly is full, attendees can take a gander at the aircraft parked on the ramp for display, as weather allows. According to Hom, if weather is poor there will still be a helicopter on display that has been based at the Eagle River Union Airport for the last couple weeks doing aerial survey work in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

"We'll also have two Piper Navajos that are equipped with external survey equipment," Hom said. "They are here temporarily for two months, also conducting aerial survey work — mainly in the U.P. If the weather is good, they will be flying."

Hom noted another exciting venture at the airport; the new flight school that is coming to Eagle River. He is hopeful there will be some instructional aircraft on-site this weekend for the fly-in, along with someone to speak about the new operation.

The flight school is an offshoot from the ground school program that was run through Nicolet College last winter and spring, Hom said. "There was enough interest expressed by those students in actually starting flight instruction that we've helped get an instructor and aircraft lined up to fly out of the Eagle River Union Airport."

The airport is located on Adams Road just north of downtown Eagle River. For more information, call 715-479-7442 or email info@erairport.com.
